Assembling the Quietfire Halloween 2023 Treat Boxes

I just love designing for Halloween!  This year a spent a day figuring out how to create an easy locking bottom to a box that works without adhesive! Strained my brain but I managed to pull it off....

The Quietfire lanterns have collapsible bases, but this is different.  The great thing about both designs is that they can fold flat for shipping and storage.

Here is this week's collection. Each design tells a little story, from the kitty going out on its first Halloween to the witch whose crash ended with her head-down in the treats!

These are super simple to make and some of them use only three colours of cardstock, so they go together quickly - to see just how quickly, watch the video!

Assembling the Quietfire Halloween Side Step Cards

Oh, there is so much fun going on here!  You'll want the whole bundle!

I've created side step cards before, but never done a video tutorial for them. You can find the other side step cards on my Silhouette store - they come in lots of designs, not just Halloween.

They are pretty straightforward, but it helps to see how the card base is folded.  After that, it's just layering on the fun stuff!

You can find these on my Silhouette Store https://bit.ly/2oAR9e6 and if you want this whole Halloween bundle, check them out at Shop.LoriWhitlock.com (you might have to wait a day till the bundle is available there)

Here is a little video tutorial to help you along.  If you're receiving this as an email update, CLICK HERE to view the tutorial on YouTube.

Happy creating! Suzanne

Assembling the Quietfire Fairy Light Covers

This is the Fairy Light Covers Halloween Collection, but I think you're going to see more of these!

The fairy light covers are so fun and easy to make.  Cut all the same design or mix and match!  Have fun!

I've made a super short video tutorial to show you how to assemble them - but you probably don't need it! These covers slide onto standard mini light string bulbs and can fold flat for shipping and storage. Cut the solid squares from vellum.

Check out all the Quietfire Fairy Light Covers! You can find these on my Silhouette Design Store pages.*
If you're receiving this as an email update you will find the tutorial on YouTube HERE.

Carving a Pumpkin? Hmmm, Maybe Not!

There is still time to decorate pumpkins before the goblins come out!  And you don't even have to carve them!

Okay, I'll confess.  Carving a pumpkin is not my favourite thing.  It hurts my delicate little hands (have some cheese with that whine, Suzanne), there is the ever-present danger of losing blood if the knife slips (don't have a clue where those little-kid saw things went) and well, there is the goop inside ("flick the gick" is one of my favourite expressions....).  Yes, I'm a pumpkin-carving wimp.

However playing with my Cameo is right up my alley!  Here I've use mostly black vinyl to cut a couple of my older designs along with a brand new one and enlarged them a bit to fit each pumpkin.  My hands are happy, no blood was spilled and there was no flicking the gick.  And one of these babies was already getting soft, so there wasn't a chance that any carving was gonna happen there!  So go pick up a couple of pumpkins and have some fun!

Tree: 1, Witch: 0

I just had so much fun making these haunted trees!  The Witch just had to have striped stockings and a polka dotted skirt!  There are three different ghostie characters for your amusement.

New this week are:
Witch in the Tree and
Ghosts in the Tree

Create your own Black Forest for Halloween by cutting the trees in different sizes.  Mix and match witches and ghosts and trees - too much fun!

In the same vein.....

Because we can't leave the Periodic Table alone....

Periodic Table BOO
and
Jack-o'-Lantern Tag Box

Cute, huh?

Did you know that you can get these files in svg format from Silhouette now?  Sweet!

Last Minute Halloween Creations!

OOOoooooooooo!  It's Halloween!  And there is still time to create fun and special little things!

Available on the Silhouette Online Store today are two more of our Halloween rings!  These are so quick and easy to make.  There are only 3 pieces to each ring and you really just need Glue Dots to hold them together.

And here are two little treat dishes.  Be careful!  You won't be able to just walk by without sampling a treat!

To those of you who saw my candy photo on Instagram and Facebook..... See?  I really did buy these for staging photographs.  And now I'll eat them.

If we're really "good", we'll have candy left over, so we'll swing into Autumn with another treat dish.  Bet you just can't have one!

Happy cutting!
Suzanne

Halloween Rings!

Have you seen those plastic spider rings?  I used to have a few which I would bring out every Halloween.  Something triggered that memory and I thought, well why not try making some of my own rings.  Although I didn't do a spider (I thought all those legs might be a tiny bit too flimsy!), I did a bat, a ghost and a black cat (thank you to Tiger for providing the handsome profile).  They've been available on the Silhouette store for a few hours now.

I don't know, these things just crack me up....!  I hope they give you a smile, too!

And continuing in the silly fun theme, you can see the Halloween rings in action on Instagram!
